Unblocking a toilet: A step by step guide
Materials:
- Plunger
- Bucket
- Rubber gloves
- Old rags
- Hot water
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
Steps:
- Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands.
- If there is a lot of water in the toilet bowl, use a bucket to remove some of it.
- Pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl.
- Immediately follow with a cup of white vinegar.
- Let the baking soda and vinegar mixture fizz for 30 minutes.
- While the mixture is fizzing, boil a kettle of water.
- After 30 minutes, pour the hot water down the toilet bowl.
- Use the plunger to plunge the toilet bowl vigorously.
- Flush the toilet.
If the toilet is still blocked after trying these steps, you can try using a drain snake. A drain snake is a long, flexible tool that can be inserted into the toilet drain to break up the clog.
If you are not comfortable using a plunger or drain snake, you can call a plumber.
Here are some additional tips for unblocking a toilet:
- Do not flush anything other than toilet paper and human waste down the toilet.
- If you are using a plunger, make sure that it is the right size for your toilet.
- Do not plunge too hard, as this could damage your toilet.
I hope this helps!
