Unblocking a toilet: A step by step guide

Materials:

  • Plunger
  • Bucket
  • Rubber gloves
  • Old rags
  • Hot water
  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar

Steps:

  1. Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands.
  2. If there is a lot of water in the toilet bowl, use a bucket to remove some of it.
  3. Pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl.
  4. Immediately follow with a cup of white vinegar.
  5. Let the baking soda and vinegar mixture fizz for 30 minutes.
  6. While the mixture is fizzing, boil a kettle of water.
  7. After 30 minutes, pour the hot water down the toilet bowl.
  8. Use the plunger to plunge the toilet bowl vigorously.
  9. Flush the toilet.

If the toilet is still blocked after trying these steps, you can try using a drain snake. A drain snake is a long, flexible tool that can be inserted into the toilet drain to break up the clog.

If you are not comfortable using a plunger or drain snake, you can call a plumber.

Here are some additional tips for unblocking a toilet:

  • Do not flush anything other than toilet paper and human waste down the toilet.
  • If you are using a plunger, make sure that it is the right size for your toilet.
  • Do not plunge too hard, as this could damage your toilet.

I hope this helps!
